  1. Set a Draft Budget

Venue hunting can definitely be a delicate balance between your dreams and your budget! Determine the rough number of guests and set a budget (a realistic one). Want to make life easier? Download our budget and planning templates here.

  2. Theme

Modern Elegant, Garden Soiree, Barn Vibes, or just plain old party??? Have an overall vision or 2 before you begin to shortlist venues.

  3. Location

Have a chat about which region you want to get hitched in. Consider things like transport and accommodation for you and your guests. Our website breaks venues down into 4 regions (Southern Tasmania, East Coast, West and North West, North and North East), we also have a dedicated page to properties suitable for elopement, micro weddings and accommodation.

  4. Get Online

Check out your potential venues’ website and socials, read their online reviews and search the location using the instagram “places” search function.

  5. Check It Out

Organise site visits to see potential venues in person. Imagine how your wedding will look and feel in the space, and make sure the venue can accommodate your vision.

  6. What’s Included?

When you’re venue hunting, make sure you know what’s included and what you might need to hire in. Think about things like catering, power, lighting, furniture, restrooms etc. Just because a venue seems “cheaper” doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll spend less overall.

  7. The Fine Print

Review contracts carefully, paying attention to details like payment schedules, cancellation policies, minimum spends, venue access times, any restrictions or things that aren’t allowed, and any additional fees that may apply.

  8. Trust Your Instinct

Choose the venue that feels right and aligns with your vision and with you as a couple.

  9. Download our Planning Template

Our planning template has it’s own venue comparison tab!
